Switzerland is the partner country at the 2008 E-world energy & water in Essen

Bern, 13.12.2007 - From February 19 to 21, 2008, Switzerland will appear as the partner country of the E-world energy & water in Essen (Germany). At this principle trade fair for the European energy and water industry Switzerland will be represented with a joint stand for exhibitors displaying cutting-edge research and innovations and products and services from the Swiss energy scene. In addition, during the event distinguished speakers will represent Switzerland at the numerous congresses and workshops; on the evening before the fair opens Federal Councillor Moritz Leuenberger will speak at the 2nd Annual European Energy Congress.

The eighth E-world energy & water trade fair will take place from February 19 to 21, 2008. Once again 400 exhibitors from 18 countries are expected and products and services for the energy and water sectors will be presented to 13,500 experts from the industry.

Switzerland's prominent participation in the trade fair with a joint stand for exhibitors is being made possible through the sponsorship of the following Swiss grid suppliers, the main supporters of the project: Atel (Aare-Tessin) Ltd, BKW FMB Energy Ltd, EGL (Elektrizitäts-Gesellschaft Laufenburg) Ltd, EOS (Energie Ouest Suisse) Ltd and Rätia Energy Ltd. The five main sponsors will each have their own stands at the fair.

The following institutes and organisations are also contributing to the joint presentation as project partners: swissgrid, Presence Switzerland and the Swiss Embassy in Berlin. Cookuk, an Aarau company taking the responsibility for catering on the joint stand, will offer a culinary taste of Switzerland: visitors will be treated to a short gastronomic trip through the country.

According to Walter Steinmann, Director of the Swiss Federal Office for Energy SFOE, "The E-world is an important meeting point for the European energy industry. Because of Switzerland's unique position as an electricity supplier we want to use the fair to present our country in an optimum manner. Of course, this mainly includes Switzerland's cutting-edge research. However, we also have much to offer in the field of renewable energy. We would also like to point out what advantages Switzerland has to offer as a location for companies, for co-operation in research and as a place to live and work."

For this reason care has been taken to ensure the mix of exhibitors on the joint stand reflects Switzerland's cultural diversity. The following organisations will be represented on the stand: the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ), with its world record-holding Pac Car II; the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI); CTU - Concepts Technology Environment Ltd, from Winterthur; Kompogas Ltd from Glattbrugg; the "Powertage 2008" Swiss Trade Fair (MCH Trade Fairs Switzerland Ltd), and both the principle energy-supplying cantons, Aargau and Solothurn.
