Investment in the construction sector in Switzerland 2013: temporary data – Building engineering projects cause construction expenditure to rise

Neuchâtel, 17.07.2014 - (FSO) - According to provisional results from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), construction expenditure in 2013 increased nominally year-on-year by 1.8% (real +1.2%) to CHF 63.1 billion. Compared with the previous year, investment in building engineering projects increased by 3.1% to CHF 47.3 billion, whereas investment in civil engineering projects fell by 0.9% to CHF 10.6 billion. Construction expenditure in public maintenance works fell by 3.6% to CHF 5.3 billion. The volume of orders for the subsequent year 2014 increased by 0.3% compared with 2013.
