Delegation of the Fukushima Prefecture to visit Switzerland

Bern, 03.07.2015 - A delegation of the Fukushima Prefecture will visit Switzerland from 13 to 15 July 2015.

Masao Uchibori, Governor of the Fukushima Prefecture, has initiated this visit to Switzerland. In 2014, the prefecture had announced to cover 100% of its electricity demand with renewable resources by 2040.

Thus, one of the main objectives of the delegation composed of Masao Uchibori, five members of the Fukushima Prefectural Government and three journalists from the Fukushima region, is to study the Swiss energy policy system as well as the development of renewable energies, energy efficiency and new energy technologies in Switzerland.

The visit includes various meetings with representatives of international organizations, federal and cantonal authorities and governments, as well as the private sector. On-site visits will include the Chancy-Pougny Hydro Power Station, the Mühleberg Nuclear Power Plant or the Migros Verteilzentrum Neuendorf.
