Swiss Labour Force Survey and its derivative statistics: Labour supply in 2nd quarter 2012 – 0.9% increase in the number of employed persons; unemployment rate based on ILO definition 3.7%

Neuchâtel, 24.09.2012 - (FSO) - According to figures from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), the number of employed persons in Switzerland rose by 0.9% between the 2nd quarter 2011 and the 2nd quarter 2012. Within the European Union, it fell slightly (-0.2%). During the same period, the unemployment rate as defined by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) increased very slightly in Switzerland, rising from 3.6% to 3.7%. The EU's unemployment rate as defined by the ILO rose from 9.4 to 10.2%.
