Bern, 13.05.2009 - At its meeting on 13 May 2009, the Federal Council approved the export of military training aircraft to the United Arab Emirates.

The export given the green light by the Federal Council comprises 25 Type PC-21 military training aircraft. The manufacturer is currently bidding for a contract from the Emirates Air Force, which is looking to procure new training aircraft to replace the PC-7 planes supplied by Switzerland in the 1990s.

The result of the bidding procedure for the supply of the new aircraft is due to be announced at the Dubai Airshow in November 2009.
