Health care employment and professions – Strong employment growth in the health care sector

Neuchâtel, 25.11.2010 - (FSO) - Employment in the health care sector grew by +2,6% per year between 2001 and 2008. This increase is greater than that of total employment in the national economy (+1.2%). Over this seven-year period, the sector grew by 90,000 jobs and in 2008 it totalled some 542,000 employed persons. The sector represents nearly 13.5% of total employment. These figures emerge from the health care personnel statistics analysed by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
