Producer and Import Price Index in August 2012 – Rising prices compared with previous month - year-on-year inflation close to zero

Neuchâtel, 13.09.2012 - (FSO) - The Producer and Import Price Index calculated by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) rose by 0.5% in August 2012 compared with the previous month, reaching 98.3 points (base December 2010 = 100). This was primarily attributable to higher prices for oil and petroleum products as well as for chemical and pharmaceutical products which are collected on a quarterly basis. The price level of the whole range of domestic and imported products dropped slightly by 0.1% year on year.
