Switzerland condemns attack in Lebanon

Bern, 19.11.2013 - The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) condemns in the strongest terms the double attack carried out on Tuesday 19 November 2013 in front of the Iranian embassy in Lebanon. No act of terrorism can be justified. The FDFA expresses its sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims.

The double bombing, which was perpetrated outside the Iranian embassy in the south of Beirut on Tuesday, killed more than twenty people including an Iranian diplomat and wounded many more. Switzerland condemns this act of terrorism in the strongest terms. The FDFA expects the perpetrators to be brought to justice.

Switzerland expresses its deep sympathy to the families and friends of the victims and to the Lebanese and Iranian authorities. It takes this opportunity to reiterate its support for the efforts of the Lebanese government to maintain the stability of the country in this especially difficult context.
