President of the Swiss Confederation Didier Burkhalter meets Ukrainian President Yanukovych in Sochi
Bern, 07.02.2014 - President Burkhalter emphasizes the importance of a peaceful solution of the crisis in Ukraine.
Didier Burkhalter, President of the Swiss Confederation and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, discussed with Viktor Yanukovych, President of Ukraine, the situation in the country and confirmed the readiness of the OSCE to assist Ukraine in the settlement of the crisis.
“I emphasized the importance of the engagement of all sides in a meaningful process”, Burkhalter said. In the meeting with Yanukovych, at the margin of the opening ceremony of the winter olympics in Sochi, Burkhalter underlined the expertise of the OSCE in assisting measures towards a peaceful way out of the crisis.
