New edition of a popular read
Bern-Wabern, 26.04.2012 - The fourth edition of the brochure "Foreigners and asylum seekers in Switzerland. The Federal Office for Migration: Activities at a glance" has been published. Since first appearing in 2005, this brochure has become very popular and is greatly appreciated by schools, private individuals and political delegations alike as a reliable source of information.
The Federal Office for Migration (FOM) was created on 1 January 2005 from the amalgamation of the Federal Office for Refugees and the Federal Office of Immigration, Integration and Emigration. The same year, the newly established federal office published for the first time its brochure "Foreigners and asylum seekers in Switzerland". In just 20 pages, this A5 booklet gives an overview of the various tasks of the Federal Office for Migration and presents the main facts and procedures, from entry into Switzerland to naturalisation. The brochure serves as a mouthpiece for the Federal Office for Migration, showing the wide variety of subject areas covered by its employees. It also includes numerous photos, up-to-date statistics concerning migration and a foreword by FOM Director Mario Gattiker, making it interesting reading for all those who wish to learn more about the work of the Federal Office for Migration.
