On 9 April Secretary-General of the OECD Mathias Cormann, US Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard Verma and Swiss State Secretary and Director of SECO Helene Budliger Artieda officially launched the Blue Dot Network Secretariat at the OECD in Paris. The secretariat with be in charge of implementing the network’s certification programme for quality infrastructure projects.

Infrastructure projects in compliance with these standards are associated with fewer financial risks, making them more attractive to investors. This can help close the large financing gap for infrastructure in developing countries. High-quality infrastructure is essential in emerging and developing countries. It enables sustainable economic growth, creates prosperity and helps these countries to better counter the effects of climate change.

Australia, Japan and the US originally launched the Blue Dot Network concept. The UK, Spain and Switzerland joined the Blue Dot Network Steering Committee in 2023.
