Federal Council sets out parameters for Swisscom consultation paper

Bern, 21.12.2005 - The Federal Council today set out the parameters for the draft consultation paper on relinquishing the Confederation's majority holding in Swisscom. As there are no constitutional barriers to relinquishing the Confederation's majority, the Federal Council will submit an amendment of the Telecommunications Enterprise Act to the consultation partners. The Federal Council also decided to request comments from the consultation partners on accompanying measures to ensure the basic provision of services and to preserve Swisscom's independence. The Federal Council plans to adopt the draft consultation paper at the end of January 2006.
