Website relaunch and first Customs Administration app

Bern, 18.04.2013 - Swiss Customs has revised its website (www.customs.admin.ch). The main changes are quick access with brief summaries and an optimised content structure. In addition, there is a new app which is free of charge with information on crossing the border for private individuals.

With the new quick access "information in brief", users who only occasionally visit the Customs website should find the information sought more easily and quickly. Based on an evaluation of client enquiries, the entire layout has also been revised. There are electronic applications in the new "customs declaration" section which companies can use to declare their goods to customs.

"Travel and goods" customs app

Private individuals now have a new Customs app which answers questions about crossing the border. For example, which goods may be imported into Switzerland or whether duties and which ones are to be expected, including for goods ordered online. The app provides information on where the nearest bigger border crossing is to be found in order for goods to be cleared. However, it is not possible to declare goods to Customs electronically with this app.

The "travel and goods" app is available in the following stores:

  • iTunes appstore for iPhones
  • Google Play Store for smartphones which use the android operating system

For other appliances, it is available as a smartphone optimised website. Link at: www.travel-and-goods.admin.ch
